A 50-year-old man from Cheviot is dead after being shot multiple times in the Village of Lincoln Heights in the early hours of Monday morning, according to authorities.
Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 1100 block of Jackson Street, near Leggett Street, just after midnight on June 29, 2026.
Deputies arrived around 12:18 a.m. to find Eddie A. Crossty lying in a driveway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The location sits just over a block away from Lincoln Heights Elementary School.
Crossty was rushed to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with what deputies described as life-threatening injuries. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office later officially identified him as a resident of Cheviot, a neighborhood on the west side of Cincinnati.
Crime scene tape remained up at the Jackson Street location until approximately 6:30 a.m., nearly five hours after the shooting was first reported.
Investigators from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office worked through the early morning hours gathering evidence and speaking with anyone who may have witnessed what took place in the moments leading up to the shooting.
As of Monday afternoon, the Sheriff’s Office had not publicly identified any suspects or announced any arrests in connection with the case. Spokesperson Kyla Woods confirmed that the investigation remains active and ongoing.
Authorities have not released details about what may have led to the shooting or whether Crossty was targeted or the victim of a random act of violence.
